Spark plug wires ever melt from your headers? ( i got bbk's)
Anyone ever have a problem with there spark plug wires melting because of there headers? I got some bbk's and I was just curious if anyone has ran into this problem also.. I know they make heat wrap.. but im just curious...
yeah i have. just use zipties and tie them off as close to the engine as possible. and use those metal heat boot thingys on the ones closest to the primaries so you dont burn the end of the wire that connects to the spark plug.
Work the number six cylinder wire up and behind the dipstick tube then to the spark plug. Thats how I did that one and it really works. The others I just zip tied to various things under the motor to ensure they didn't get next to the headers.
I kept the stock things that bolt to the block for the holders...and zip tie the wires to that and zip tie them together and out of the way......works like a charm.
I hate otvc wires....they get in the way when pulling the valve covers off. I like em low and out the way

I used them with Edelbrock shorties. One wire touched the heat boot but nothing happened to the wire. This was the case for 20k miles.they are a little pricey but how much does a new set of wires cost?
I do get a little sick of them being in the way, but I think, I still like them. When I cut them to length, I made them a little long. They are able to clear the valve cover. I don't think I pull mine off as often as you do, though.
The 2 on the back driver side are bad on mine. One burnt even in the protective sleeve so i used an old wire from the old set and did that one otvc. The back driver side end touchs the header but nothing i can do because it is real tight on the Pacesetter's. Nothing burnt so far.
