Spark plug gag...need help quick please!!!

What do you guys gap your plugs at? I bought some ac delco 41-906 plugs and the guy at autozone told me they were ready to be put in. Well I trusted him put them in and at high RPM's I get a mis pretty bad. I check the gap and they were at like .55 and the book tells me .35 what do you guys us? I just bought some more and about to put them on.

Always check the gap on plugs before you put them in. It does not matter if they are pre-gapped or not. All you have to do is bump it and the gap is messed up.

Stock gap is .050. You are really supposed to use a wire type gauge to check the gap, but you can find spark plug gap tools that you can merely slide the plug on that will gap the plug.

Right off this sticker on the radiator cover or from the owner's manual.

opps....well I was wondering would that make a differnce if they are at .55 instead of .50? I have a pretty bad mis at high RPMs or could it be bad O2 sensors?

.055 is not going to cause a considerable difference unless you have some other issue that is causing spark voltage drops. Doubt that it or O2s woudl cause a miss. More likely a plug wire.

BTW, you might get a scolding from the moderator if you abuse the TTT.

Well any other ideas on this I just replaced my wires and I know for sure they are sitting on my headers. I used taylor wires and they seem to fit pretty good. I have replaced the coil. So could it be anything else that you can think of. Oh ya and I did do the fuel filter. I am stump. Is there a way to check if it is the opti.(that would suck)

"I know for sure they are sitting on my headers"

do you mean NOT?

check all your wires again...one could be burned already or not connected right.

Check your coil wire. Had the same High rpm miss, and it wound up being my coil wire.

Just something to check

From what I have read it sounds like the opti to me. They usually start in the high rpm range almost like the rev limiter coming on early. After time it just gets worse. Do the cheap things like these guys said. A new wire set by the way comes with the coil wire. I would try the coil next, fuel filter after that, then look into a new opti and water pump. Mine is doing it at the high rpm to. I have replaced plugs and wires. I plan on trying just what I said coil, fuel filter, then opti if all else fails.
