Trey, some people want to do different things with their car than what you want to do with yours, or what you think they should do with theirs. If you wouldn't put this cam in a stock bottom end motor that's fine. Brian wanted to, he did, and the car runs great. No one needs to explain anything to you...it's all personal preference.
ACTUALLY, as I recall- He asked for opinions, I gave mine and everyone attacked it. I defended it. And I still defend it now. I said NOTHING in this thread till he decided to immature and DRAG me into it by making fun of me. I had someone IM me the link to this thread after brians retarded responce. I had nothing to do with this thread till he pulled me in. just remember that.

I never said ANYTHING about it not being streetable. streetable for you is something totaly different for me. An Lt4 hotcam wouldnt be streetable for me personally.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's fine. All I was saying is that there are no drivability concerns, on Brian's car, with this cam. Hmm..actually, I'll be tuning a hotcam/stock head car this weekend...so I could tell you how much of a difference there is between the 2 cams if you'd like.
why the hell would i want you to tell me the differance? I dont give a rats ***. READ THE POST. I said "I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT STREETABILITY." I could care less what the hell you want to drive. I NEVER said anything about streetability. Why the hell would you even respond with something like this? I say streetability is not the issue at stake and you bring up a streetability issue between two cams

I NEVER said anything about its sound, tuning or anything except its powerband. I dont choose my cam based on sound.

Again, all I was saying is so far I see no reason why Brian shouldn't have put this cam in the car. And we'll see when it goes on the dyno where it makes power. We can all guess and speculate and argue and whatever....but who cares? Brian wanted this cam and he's got it...leave it at that. You can have your opinion.
apparently I cant, because to this post brian seems to have something to prove. Him and his MY OPINION IS RIGHT" posts are annoying at best. His "I know more than you ever will" post is just beyond stupid.

No, you've put you're $.02 in about Brian and his choice of cam...now let it die.
I let it die a long time ago. then he starts a "your wrong, this cam is great because it sounds good." I say that its going to rev neyond what you will want to rev in a stock bottom end and the only responces I get are
"no trey, its fast", "it pulls hard all through the band"
Who are you kidding? I have the same freaking cam and i feel it REALLY starting to pull hard at 5600-6000 rpms or so!
all anyone has done was make stupid points (like yourself and the steetability thing), or make personal attacks on me. I may not have a dyno chart of the 236, but there is grips 230 cam reving to 6500 in a 383, kmooks cam revving equally as high and at the VERY least I have some kind of logical reasoning. not "no man, its fast"
The
comments are even more immature for this section. I refuse to make this another threxx vs eric bryant lounge debate. you make no sense half the time and the other half its worthless.
I am done. enjoy your cam. please post dyno results. anymore personal attacks can be PMed or emailed to me

I think you will be fine. I wouldn't worry about the crank at high rpms...the rods maybe. I wouldn't keep it up there very very long. Its not like we are talking about sustained 7000 rpms. I'm got a stock crank, h-beam forged rods and custom ross pistons. My motor sees 7 grand quite often. I would trust the thing up to 7100-7200 but I don't make power up there. My 255/263 solid roller on a 110 ls makes peak power at 6700. It may be my heads hurting me though. Good luck with the buildup and it sounds great.

Tim
Well I just talked to Trey on AIM and we talked about a few things. For any of you more experienced people out there that sent Trey emails about my setup, I would appreciate it if you contact me isntead of someone else. If you have things to say, email me privately if you dont want to post it on here. I still have yet to hear from any of the more notable engine builders or "experienced" members of this board
.
Here is a quote from one of the engine builders that supposedly emailed Trey--
You are right in saying that I didnt say anything about not reving high, and the bottom end power loss. I know that the cam will rev high, and I talked to several shops that do a fair amount of work with LT1's and they told me it would make peak power sooner thant he CC306, and that I would want to shift the car at 6400-6600 rpm. What am I supposed to do??? No one on here really had tried this cam in a stock bottom end car, and I thought I would be one of the first to try it. I know I am probably wrong in buying this cam, as I had MAJOR second thoughts after ordering it. ABout 1.5 weeks before the install, I was getting on the phone to order another cam but my installer buddy changed my mind. I even thought about changing it part way through the summer depending on how it runs at the track and power wise. I was thinking about building a 396 this next winter to compliment this cam, but I have kinda over spent on this years project. So who knows what may come for next winter. I mean if I want to change the cam, the install wont cost me anything but a few washes of my buddies enclosed trailer. I just dont know if he wants to work on my again for a while.
For anyone out there looking at this cam for their car, dont use me for any help on it because I am not supposed to tell anyone that its good for a stock bottom end car. After all the BS on this post, I am just about ready to delete it and ALL my other 236/242 posts because I am pushing my "opinion" too hard on everyone.
Yes, I admit and have admitted it before, that this cam probably is too big for a stock bottom end, but guess what, I have the cam installed allready and am gonna try it for now at least. I am gonna try it at the track and dyno in May to see what kind of power it makes.
I would LOVE for it to make peak power fairly early in the rpm band, that way I can shove the dyno sheet up all the naysayers *****. But I dont think thats gonna happen and it will PROBABLY make power where you guys say it will. Well enough of this crap and I am just about done with this thread.

I don't think he's said it's optimal....at least that I'm aware of. If he did, he's dead wrong.
Again, I don't see anywhere that he said it's not going to rev high or that it's good for bottom end power.

Hooker >flowmaster
I like the Hooker for sound and power, I still have a Flowbee + Cutout though.
As for the cam though, I dont think its "too big" for a 350, if its too big then GO HOME
I think most of the people that claim "too big" are those that have some more tuning to attend to, everyone does have differing ideas of powerband needs though, I dont use 1000-1400 that often so it didn't matter to me.

The cam sounds awsome too man. Great job and I would love to hear your car in person sometime!
