sound advice
Alright, my car is almost 9 yrs old, its time to get rid of the catalytic converter. I have a cutout, and i love the sound so what should i do. Will straight piping be too loud? Will a resonator sound like a truck? Should I just go with a new cat? I don't really want to spend a lot of money, but i don't want to be too loud. We don't have any emissions testing up here either.
Thanks

Take a straight pipe and put it in place of the cat and see what you think.
If it's too loud you could try a dynomax or magnaflow muffler, those seem to be the most mellow while being up there with the rest as far as flow rates are concerned.
Some people here have done true duals here and said it sounded awesome (deep and mellow), others have said theirs was louder than crap, so you'll probably have to work with it a little to make it sound like you want.

If you want both the performance gain of no cat, and a little quieter than a straight pipe, then get a Dynomax bullet muffler. It's a straight through design and I think they are less than $40 at www.summitracing.com

Thanks guys, i like the idea of a bullet muffler, does anyone have experience with this? I don't have headers and won't be getting them anytime soon, so the exhaust will be running out manifolds, through the stock y, through a bullet muffler then out the cutout?
