To the post od a 93 doesn't have a PWM solenoid that is correct, I didn't notice the year. I could still be the lockup solenoid however.......

EVERY auto lt1 that I have ever driven has squealed the belt at WOT upshifts.

I even remember a brand new 96 formula with less then 100 miles doing it.

One would assume from him talking about shifting, that he had a manual. Especially since he never mentioned it in any posts. Much less his cardomain page.

To the point of the tranny parts. The 93 had a bastard tranny. You should see an RPO in the glove box of MD8. This is the non electric version of the 4l60. Other wise known as the 700R4. The following years were given the 4l60E. Assuming the tranny wasn't changed, it would be a good idea for you to check the glove box.

Stop focusing on the back side as I suggested in the post where I assumed you had a manual tranny and do as Fred suggested up front.
I agree it helps to know the basic info up front..... like the tranny type. I recognized it as most likely an A4 from the description of the problem. Over the 10+ years I've been here, I've probabaly read about this problem a hundred times..... very common problem.

The PWM feature was added to the later years.... I think between 94-95. I don't think it has anything to do with the 4L60 vs. the 4L60E.

This is correct. I didn't notice the year of the OP's vehicle when I responded. I did know that it was an automatic and from my experience with them, mostly on 95+ cars when the PWM solenoid goes out or intermittent then it shudders slightly before engaging the TCC switch and if held at WOT at this time it squeals like a belt. So taking the PWM out of the equation here my guess would be still internal tranny and having to do with lockup function and could be torque converter related.

All of my F body's are auto's, I am disabled and it is hard to drive a stick so......I have never had belt squeal in any of them and all but one has been highly modified. I have also seen/heard a belt tensioner make this noise just before it goes bad as well.

First replace the tensioner.... and if it makes the noise even with the A/C off, spin the A/C pulley and see if it spins freely. Do the same with the alternator.
I would most suspect the power steering pump. My belt gives a 1-2 second shriek when I start my car,and when if I rev it within the first 5-10 mins of it running. I've narrowed it down to the power steering pump. I guess the fluid is thick and slow moving when its cold, causing there to be more drag on the pump, then as the fluid warms, and flows more freely, less drag on the pump, and less slippage.. and.. of course the belt gets warmer.. which plays a role. For whatever reasons.. my slips more when the A/C is on..even though the compressor is not the issue..

Are you sure it's not the tires?

Easy enough to determine if it's belt/tensioner/accessory related without throwing parts at it - do a WOT run with the belt off.

I second that. I had the same problem a few years back, got a gator back belt and never had a problem since then.

Have you checked the belt and tensioner? That's not normal and likely not an indication of a bad power steering pump.
