I don't know what the waterpump does or how an aftermarket one is better? Does it increase performance somehow? Please explain!!

Basically, going to an electric pump means the engine doesn't have to drive the waterpump. I'm not sure how much of a gain this is, but there will be a some. Also, if you do the water pump, go ahead an change the thermostat since it will be very accessable at the time.
