somebody clarify this maf nonsense for me
descreen, convert to z06, granatelli, leave it alone? i really dont know what will be best for my application, i figured ide leave it alone b/c i heard the stock one (as it is) is good up to 400 horses. however the other day i ran into three guys with Z's, two 94s and one 95, they asked had i took out the screen i said no cause i heard it would mess with the computer, they said they had all "desreened" with no probs and saw a hp increase on the dyno. even the well built 94 (supposed 12.2 car) had no probs so what the hells the deal? there are sooooo many opinions, somebody clear this up. ide prefer professional answers, you know the people who actually KNOW what there talking about, no offense guys, im just tired of trying to sort through all this garbage in my searchs!
I simply descreened mine. I'll never do anything else to it or change it. Aftermarket MAF sensors flow better but they are usually what you'd install if you have almost every bolt-on and are beginning to run out of options.
well i had the GMS maf ends (aftermarket descreened/ported)installed on my car (my old lt1 and now my ls1) for over 2 years with no problems. although i couldn't really feel any difference. but i figured it was worth a couple horses.
when i installed a ZO6 maf i noticed a bit of top end gain. but not much.
i say ifyou have the $$ and feel like playing with mods. buy the ZO6 for $150, that way you have your totally stock unit to fall back on if you encounter problems.
