Lightbulb Solved my VATS problem

I hate when someone fixes there car and never responds with the fix. My car would not start. I took the panel off under the steering wheel and found a orange sleeve with 2 white wires running to the steering wheel. I took the plug apart where it turns into different colored wires and on the wires running away from the orange sleeve i put stripped wires in the slots held my spare key with the resistor between them and used the other key to start the car. Then i went to radio shack and bought a cheap package of 1/2 volt resistors of my cars ohms and put it in to bridge the 2 wires and done. Hope someone can use my troubleshooting to fix there problem. Of course i spent a week trying everything else first. I started the car by unplugging the big purple wire (runs to starter) on the passenger top middle under the hood and using a wire to connect it to the battery. The car started briefly but died. So i knew it was VATS from that.
