Solid Roller Lifters??

Just wondering how many, if any of you are running solid roller lifters in your LT1s?

Those that are, realistically, how frequent have you actually had make adjustments?

Among the significant factors that bear on your question are: the design of the camshaft lobe, the operating range in terms of RPM, the style of rockers you plan to use. When I used a solid roller camshaft with a radically designed lobe, at 8200 RPM, with stud-mounted rockers and a girdle, the combination was usually good for two or three runs between adjustments. When I put on a set of top-quality shaft rockers on the same camshaft under the same operating conditions I found that ten runs isn't out of the question. Of course, with 800# of open spring pressure, allowing the lash to open up is an invitation to disaster. I've always believed that it's better to be safe than sorry so I have the covers off at least once at every event i attend.

Rule of thumb is about every oil change, but as stated above it depends on how radical your setup is. I have a very mild SR in my engine w/ 250lbs of seat pressure and 500 open. So far I've adjusted them twice and have put about 5K miles on the setup. Running stud mount rockers w/ no girdle.

Additionally, if you're not running a Super-Comp dragster with .750+ lift (possibly .600+ in your LTX), that will also be a factor. Basically, the .600 lift will not be as maintenance intensive.

The shaft rockers are also a major factor in valve train maintenance (requires less adjustements). After a few adjustments, you'll get a feel how often it is actually required on your engine. For example; after 20 runs everything is near perfect every time, you can probably go to 30 runs before readjusting.
