solid motor mounts and poly trans mount, OK??

i read somewhere that if you have solid mounts u need to also upgrade the trans mount. I already bought the solid motor mounts and poly trans mount, is this ok or do i really need a solid trans mount as well??? Anyone running a solid motor/poly trans mount with HEAVY drag racing use?? I plan on juicing a 150 shot out of the hole with a street twin, 12 bolt, and slicks. Thanks.

I think you're gonna hate the solid motor mounts and a solid tranny mount would be even worse. Don't take this the wrong way, but what is so serious about you car that you feel you need to run them?

My passanger side collector hits the frame under load. Also, with the new juice setup i should be around 430hp to the wheels and over 550 torque to the wheels. And i do have a street twin, and will order a 12 bolt, and i have slicks ready for use. Thats why i want to go solid, keep the engine from moving, and i don't care about vibrations as much as strength. Basically i'm at the stage where if i buy something it will be the best of the best for all out power/strength, comfort is secondary. So, as it stands now I think I'll go solid/solid for both, unless the poly trans would be a better choice because it is just as strong and less vibrations?? I actually ordered both mounts, i jsut wanted to know which to install, haha. thanks

thats right you're the guy that posted about the engine harness strap thing or something. I forgot about that. What happened to that idea? Seems like it might be something that you could hook up at the track and save yourself from the grief of saturday night cruising.

Anyway, to answer your question. I would think that you would be ok with the poly trans mount simply because the solid motor mounts will be... well solid... So they will be absorbing the torque and not transferring it to the tranny. Make sense? I hope so...

not really, i would think that if the poly mount gives at all, all the stress will be on the solid motor mounts, the transmission bellhousing, and the output shaft of the tranny. It's like the whole motor/trans is solid in the front, and "loose" in the back and most of the stress will be on the solid mount and the poly will not provide comparable support?? Thats the way i'm thinking about it, correct me if i'm wrong.

As far as the strap idea, i decided against that cuz solid mounts are all around stronger and they are cheap. Also i read up on motor mounts install, and it seems doable and not that much of a hassle. I've installed my entire exhaust system so i think I can handle jackin the motor.

When you put it that way it makes sense. Are we talking about money here? If not then why not just put it in there for safety's sake? Its gonna rattle either way

You should be fine. A friend of mine is running solid motor mounts and a poly trans mount with 740+HP without any problems.
