Re: soaking lifters

When you set the valve lash, it is dependant on the spring that holds the cup up which the pushrod sits in. No oil involved. To fill them up with oil, is a good thing. Upon start up, that is one area that will already have oil, and will not take away from critical parts.

Wash them off. alcohol will work.

Re: soaking lifters

It would be a good idea to wash them off to make sure that oil can get into the lifter. The chances of something getting clogged up keeping the oil from getting in there are slim, but do you really want to chance it for 10-15 minutes worth of work?

Re: soaking lifters

Believe me, soak them clean them whatever u can do. We had to adjust the rockers 5 times because they kept coming loose. Lifters never pumped up right maybe I had a couple bad ones idk, but ill bet it was my mechanics lazyness from doing those things that did it. Then my motor blew......but that was another issue.
