So what's this Vplus Volt Booster actually do?
So what's this Vplus Volt Booster actually do?
I just seen this in Jeg's for the first time today. Here is the ad:
Designed to "plug and play" into your GM vehicle and provide around 2 extra volts to the electrical system at WOT. This gives your engine more power for a hotter, more efficient spark in your ignition system. It also keeps the fuel pump at its peak performance level to maintain proper fuel pressure and volume.
So, whats the deal with this thing? Anyone use it? Does it actually work? If it does work, is it really showing any improvement in performance? I thought it could possibly be nice for anyone with N20, or a supercharger. Getting two extra volts to the fuel pump with a plug-and-go setup sure beats soldering, wiring, and trying to keep everything "factory neat" looking while your doing it.
Any opinions comments?

Good way to fry your electronics.

Say your altenator is putting out a constant 14VDC. This box lowers the feedback voltage to the altenator by 2 volts making it 12VDC. The altenator thinks it is only putting out 12VDC and compensates this by putting out an extra 2 volts, now making the output 16VDC. More than likely it wont be that high at WOT though. So it does not bypass the factory voltage regulator, buy actually tricks it into putting out more voltage.

I wonder if it could actually screw up the wiring though. I wouldnt think that it would, if it only raises it by the two volts it says it would, but that could be nice for someone with a higher voltage demand for their fuel system.

i have one not that brand but the one ls1speed sells. and it works perfect. when you floor it the voltage increases, didn't notice a performance difference really but that isn't a bad thing. you also can't screw up the wiring very easy plug and play.

b4 i ditched my opti i had it on there and it didn't hurt it at all. should have the same effect as a msd because those throw more voltage through it but i believe they do more damage than good on our cars. a few of my friends have it and been running it for awhile and no problems at all.
Re: So what's this Vplus Volt Booster actually do?
MSD makes a voltage booster too? Or do you mean their coils? I really didnt even give the whole spark aspect of that thing much thought. I was looking entirely at the potential for the fuel system.
Re: So what's this Vplus Volt Booster actually do?
The MSD is a fuel pump voltage booster like the Kenny Bell boost a pump. The nice thing about the MSD is it is adjustable. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...tegoryId=20797

Oic, thats interesting. That does sound kind of nice. I wonder if there is any real benefits with the extra 2 volts to the ignition system as well. Or any actualy downfalls ...
