Yep, probably it is. Search my post about my brother's T-56 problem- no 5th, 6th, and reverse, slight grinding in other gears. My brother paid $1300 for a nicely rebuild tranny+core with 1 year unlimited mile warranty, all the job was free of charge for him If I were you, and a person who sold you this ****** (edited by moderator... don't over-ride the langauge filter!!!) up tranny lived closed by, I would have a serious talk with him . I know you wasted at least 2 days of work (more if its your first time) just doing the conversion, and now you will have to get that b*tch out and pay another $1300 for rebuild and than put good tranny in. Get lots of bear+coffe, install stereo in your garage, and good luck, hey its just middle of the winter now
Good luck,
Tomas
Good luck,
Tomas

I bought it from regal performance in texas and its supposed to be rebuilt. It comes with a 90 day warrenty. And if it BARLEY moves at all, its practically seized up. The good thing is I saved all the emails and paid with a CC so if worste comes to worste I'll just dispute the charges.

Well its not seizing up, the brake pedal is hanging up for some reason. It still has no 5th or 6th gear though... all it does is make a screetching noise.

Do you have the correct length drive shaft for the application? If it's too long, it could cause binding similar to brake drag and may affect 5th and 6th as I believe they're in the rear of the tranny.

I also received my tranny from regal performance and my tranny was fine. Double check your wiring for your reverse backup solenoid and the skip shift solenoid. I plugged mine in the wrong spot and I couldn't get it into a few gears. I know 5th and 1st were one of them. Check your wiring and fill us in! Does it go into 5th and 6th fine when the car is off?

Re: So I just finished my T56 conversion and
happened to me too. two years ago. no third gear. i had all the mechanical work done and was still using the auto shifter laying in the passenger floorboard for starting and backup lights i had to try it out before i finished the job. my was warrantied also ....worthless. i had to take it back out, ship it back to find out they couldnt find another one.at this point i was like i need a mig to patch this gapping hole in the floorpan and im going back to automatic in the end ,i could not take another chance on a used tranny.i checked around and got prices for rebuilds around here and they ranged from 900.00 to 1200.00.add that to the purchase price of the used one and you have just bought a new one! i got a new m29 from sallee chevrolet for 1700.00.i didnt want the skip shift anyway so i saved some money by getting the 93 model.plus i love the gearing in it. so much better than the 96 model tranny i had. sorry to hear someone else get bitten.good luck
