And found this

I have ported heads The only problem is the cam that I ordered is probably too small for ported heads, the crane 210/224. I'm probably going to have to send it back for their 222/230 cam.

Or you could put that cam in, and have some serious powerband...

I thought I just had a freak to tell you the truth. I didn't see any other A4's dyno 300+RWHP with just 1.6 rockers and boltons.

104mph is VERY strong for an auto car with a stock cam. Sounds like the previous owner may have been a street racer .

The 104mph is before the 3.73's, and normally people pick up some MPH after the gear swap. The car was 100% stock externaly when I bought it too, stock intake, stock exhaust manifolds, stock catback ect... Kinda wierd

I'm thinking about doing this, has anyone dyno'd the 210/224 on ported heads? I don't think 340-350rwhp should be a problem considering frank95Z put out 331 through a 21 bolt and a 2800 stall convertor on stock heads.

Yes, people have dynoed that cam with ported heads. It's a VERY popular cam with the Impala SS's as I'm sure you are aware. Try looking on those boards. (Crane 227)

Also, there is no such thing as a cam too small for ported heads. ANY cam will take advantage of the extra breathing. It's just that the bigger cams will benefit more, but they might come with adverse daily driving results.

Re: So I got my intake manifold off for the cam instal...

You should make the cam decision based on how you drive the car. I drive
a lot of stop and go rush hour traffic and the 227 is perfect. I see all the
posts where people say the big cams are very streetable but now that I know
how the 227 performs, I doubt that you could do what I do with a 220/230
cam. It's the 112 centerline that gets you. Maybe something on a 114, but
definately not a GM847 or CC306.

The 227 pulls strong up to 6,000. The first time I stood on it after the cam
install I hit the rev limiter before I could make the 1-2 shift.
