i finally checked my fuel pressure at the rail. my guage should be accurate but the most i saw was around 25 psi at idle if i blipped the gas it would drop to nearly 12. but at idle it would go back and forth from 20-25. if i got it up to 3k or so it would sit at 23 and hold. i took the vaccuum line off of the fpr and i'm thinking i should have 41-47psi. but there was no change at all except for the car being a LOT more responsive to the gas. i'm starting to really wonder just how long this pump has been lazy.

but just as a last ditch effort coult it possibly be anything else at all.

Check the vac line to the FPR to see if it's wet. With the engine off, connect a hose to the vac port of the FPR and apply a small amount of vacuum and see if it holds. If it goes down, there is a hole in the FPR diaphragm. (be careful if it goes down it will suck fuel in the test hose). If it's ok. Get another gauge to eliminate possibility of error with first gauge and replace the fuel filter. If it's still low, remove the tank vent & check again. If it's still low sorry, gona need a FP.

You could also check the plugs to see if they show an indication of running lean.
