Snapped crank bolt!!!
The oven trick works for the crank sprocket, so I guess it would for the hub as well. My balancer and hub are one piece, so I couldn't really do that. If you use a torch be careful of hot spots and don't quench it after.
When everyone is installing their hub are you tapping gently on the end of the installer to make it easier? I have used the autozone tool a few times and it has never broken on me. When the big nut gets to tight to turn take a brass hammer and tap lightly on the end of the bolt the hub will move a little farther on and the bolts will be easier to turn. I would never heat the hub as heating it may cause issues with the crank seal.
When installing the hub, I just use the tool made for it. I have a Corvette and the room is only a couple inches in there. Kent Moore makes the tool, cost 52 dollars on ebay. Makes life much simpler when you use the proper tools for the job.
