Unhappy Smoke is something that you never want to see coming from your engine.....(AC related

There is ALWAYS something wrong with these cars. Last Sunday I got a low coolant light. Well I stopped by a gas station to see water streaming out of my weap hole on my waterpump. So well great, I am here at school in Oklahoma, 500 miles away from home and my tools. I can't afford to take it to the dealership to get fixed but luckily I found someone to let me use their tools and everything.

We replaced the waterpump today, took a couple of hours. We get everything all tightened up and start the car to make sure that it won't overheat. Luckily it didn't and no leaking. Before I left, I turned on my AC to cool off the inside of my car. After a couple of minutes I smell a burning smell. I immedately turn off my car and open my hood to find smoke billowing out. I look to see where it is coming from and all of it is coming from my AC compressor along with leaking oil and a crackling sound.

Now I am assuming that something has gone out in my compressor. There was a very thick brown oil coming from the compressor and I'm assuming it is the oil from the AC. What is it that could of gone wrong with my car's AC? If it is my compressor, how hard and how much is it going to be to fix it? This really sucks, why do things always have to happen to my car when I am so far away from home?!?!
