Smog pump and egr delete?

I started my rebuild for over the winter months. I have all my parts for the rebuild except my heads which just came off today!!! What a PITA!!!!
I am gonna do a 383 and need to put some splayed 4 bolt caps on and the block will be complete!! After tearing some of the stuff out, i.e. intake waterpump etc... I like the room I now have. I never use my AC so I will be deleting it, besides who the hell uses it with a car that has t-tops!! I just got some new Jet hot long tubes on ebay for $486 and they do not have the air pump fittings on them. I do not plan on using them with the egr. I understand the part of deleting the EGR. I work with stainless steel so I will be fabricating my own block offs out of stainless. I got that end covered excpet for the vacum line to the egr vavle and whatever that sensor is on the drivers side by the rear of the intake. It has a electrical plug on it and a vacum line that goes to the egr valve and one that goes to the intake. What do I do with the sensor and vacum line? Just not hook them up or can I remove them using programming. My car is obdI so I don't think a code will be thrown or so I have heard.
My smog pump fell apart when I tried to take it off the bracket and it was hella rusted when I looked at it. At least it came out easy I highly doubt that it was even working. Can I just leave it off and I sure as hell want to remove the metal tubing. That is what tore the hell out of my hands and hampered vision when trying to locate stuff cause those damn hoses were everywhere on the car or so it seemed Is there anything else I should know or do when I delete these to items??

Re: Smog pump and egr delete?

my egr valve is 'hooked up' to my SLP headers, but i had the PCM programmed to turn the EGR off. i just hooked it up to avoid having to make a block off plate for the egr valve and a plate for the headers.

my headers are for a 96-97 and my car is a 94, so i just plugged the 'air' connections on the headers and took the air system off my car. its no big deal. even without the smog system or EGR my car passed the sniffer here in dallas. but it still has stock cam, and it has some good random tech cats on it.

Programming it out will keep you from getting any SES lights due to malfunctions, but I don't think it is absolutely necessary. The vacuum line you will need to plug off, but that's it for that. The AIR system can just be removed, just ensure that you have a good fuse in it or it will give you a check engine light. Just pull the whole thing off, unplug it, and remove and associated vacuum lines and plug their holes..

What about a belt to replace the original with the pump gone? Also, I found out that even though emissions testing is not done here in VA, they DO look for the pump and reject if it's gone.

well since it is electrical, and not powered by a pulley at all, i dont think it is a problem.

the only things ran off a belt are alternator, power steering, a/c, and the crank.
