I just joined this message bored today and everyone seems very helpful.
My questions is should i worry about my "Sevice Engine Soon" light flicking on for five second once a day?? Its only done it the last two days and only for 5 second... only once a day tho. SHould i just not worry about it untill it stays completely on??

well if i were you i'd try to figure out why it's doing that.

 

computer will store codes that have been thrown. So I would see if you can't find somebody local who can scan it (i don't know if autozone can scan OBD-I, i know they can scan OBD-II for free). It's probably nothing too problematic. I am guessing it's probably tuning related since your car is obviously not stock. But it's probalby a really good idea to get it checked out.

 

My neighbor is macanic so he can test it...is there a chance it could be nothing at all...?

 

I got a engine scan and it came up as a Left Heated Oxygen Sensor (Lean Exhaust Indicated). At least its not serious... i guess i should just replace that O2 and be done with it...that should take care of it right???

 

It would fix it, if the problem were that the sensor was bad. The other possibility is that the sensor is fine, and you actually are running lean on the left bank. I'd switch your sensors left/right and see if the problem follows the sensor.

Yes... good way to burn the valves, or run a chance of detonation, in excess of what the knock retard system can eliminate.

The sensor might be bad, but it might also be a problem with the fuel supply, a vacuum leak, etc. Or, it might be a "false" lean condition due to exhaust leaks before the O2 sensor, or a misfire on that side of the engine. You need to have them scan it, and check the long term fuel corrections (BLM's). There is a good chance one of the BLM cells has reached 160, and can't correct the perceived lean condition. They also need to see if there is a similar prblem on the other bank of the engine, with the BLM's close to 160 but not hitting it to set the code on that side also.
