SLP vs AS&M need opinion

Personally I think i'm going to go AS&M just because of plug access, but SLP's are stainless steel and that just sells it's self. Anyone care to share there own expertise or opinion on this?

You may want to reconsider if you're thinking ASM's have good plug access. It sucks. The headers are OUTSTANDING, but plug access and wire routeing options aren't too great. That said:

ASM's build quality is incredible, and fitment was spot on. You don't have to move the motor at all, which is great for the DIYer. ASM headers are proven to support up to 750 HP, but I'm not sure if the SLP's can support that much. Granted, ASM's are not stainless, but they are coated, and it's a very nice coating at that. Mine would be holding up much better if I didn't ice bag the intake at the track. As for cost, yeah they're expensive, but you get what you pay for.

As for power, I gained 5 mph and .5 in the 1/4 with the ASM and Random Tech Cat Back combo.

WHy's that???? just because it's stainless doesnt mean much in this comparison. the AS&Ms have a good coating, so they'll last just as long. and the fitment is waaaay better than SLPs, or so I've heard. I like my AS&Ms

never had a problem with my SLP's, not even a burned plug wire because I was careful in the routing. Since the SLP's are 1 3/4 tubes, they also can support a good deal of HP, and I was able to get a set used for $250.

Yeah, SLP's have their high points too. Intimid8er just went 12.03 BOLT ON with SLP headers. They're good. It's all in what you want.

Hmmm.. equally good feedback from both names, i'm still going to go with the AS&M's. Either one of them is going to be a good upgrade from my MAC's.

Why are you feeling it necessary to upgrade from the Macs??? Those shouldn't be holding you back yet.

as&m here, plug access is not the best, the worst being the #2 plug. no burnt wires here, i use msd 8.5, but i dont use any of the stock looms, i route the #5,#7,#8 over the valve covers. and a couple through the motor mount supports, and one behind the power steering pump and i used lots of zip ties
I SHOULD HAVE WENT LONG TUBES.....

your not going to see much difference from the MAC's to any of these headers...IMO your wasting your money upgrading. Put it towards some heads if you want to see a difference.

Keep in mind the fastest bolt on LT1 at the shootout was using Edelbrock shorty headers...

I'm putting on ported heads this winter, there is no way i'm mating them up with MAC's. I'm hoping to put out somewhere near 390 - 400 rw so yes the MAC's woulden't cut it.
