Don't buy stage 8 bolts. Go down to autozone and get the header bolt kit, it's a 3/8" by 16 thread count. They have two diferent sizes, and remember your flanges on the headers are 3/8". Those bolts are $3.99 per set and you won't have to order from anywhere. Just a tip, when you are ready to install your gaskets, smear a little bit of orange high temp gasket maker on each side to prevent blowouts(doesn't take much RTV).

Whats wrong witht he locking header bolts? I have not once had to tighten any of my header bolts and i have had zero leaks.

Installing the locks are not nearly as hard as everyone makes it out to be and you dont even have to use the locks if you cant get one on or something.

What's wrong with the locking header bolts? Well nothing really, but what's so good about them when you can go somewhere local and buy a set of bolts that will work just as good for cheaper, and you don't have to worry about having them shipped somewhere or putting the locks on them And you say you don't have to put the locking clip on if you can't get to it, well if you do that you have just defeated the purpose of locking bolts..... I haven't had to tighten my non locking header bolts, and have not had a leak.

That's just my opinion though, it seems like people on here generally like to through money away, maybe it makes them feel like they bought the best and everything else is inferior. So if you are one of those people, please pick up your mail order catalog, and order your stage 8 locking header bolts for a premium price at this time!!

Most of the bolts are just about impossible to get to. So instead of having the chance of the bolts comming loose and me having to do a lot of work just to tighten them i spent the extra money to make sure i didnt have to worry about it.

I guess it was just a waste though, since header bolts never loosen up and i could have gone to Ace Hardware and gotten any kind of a bolt.

Ahhhh buyers remorse!!! Alright Mr. "you don't have to put the locking clips on if you can't get to it"

Oh and for the record I never said anything about just any bolt, jeez you take it so personal. Here I'll make it up to you, "stage 8 locking header bolts that are owned by jchevy=" aaaaaahahahah!!

Didn't mean to offend you there, just remember that I spent less money than you, and my bolts haven't given me any problems, and that's money I can spend somewhere else

I couldn't get any bolts to stay on my SLP shorties, so we finally had to get LocTites or whatever bolts to keep them on.

You didny quote the full sentance it should have read

"Installing the locks are not nearly as hard as everyone makes it out to be and you dont even have to use the locks if you cant get one on or something."

Meaning that if for some reason you cant get the locks on all of them, its still ok to use the bolt without it. I didnt have a problem getting the locks on any of mine.

To me, it was worth $30 in bolts, to not have to worry about the bolts comming loose. On the SLP dual cat headers to get to most of the bolts its a serious PITA.

BTW, my bolts did loosen a little bit b/c the lock is against the header tubes on a quite a few of them.

Your way worked for you, my way worked for me. Lets just leave it at that.

Just curious, are you using SLP dual cat headers?

Single cat, plug access is a major ***** on the passenger side, but I got a great deal on them. Used for $335, headers and Ypipe. I've been more than happy with the performance gain from them. I picked up 2mph in the 1/8 with them.

The Stage 8 bolts also have an allen head in the middle making it easier to get a wrench in there on certain bolts like the drivers side rear.

I bought some regular header bolts when I first got my headers and they worked real good for like a month. I tightened them twice and a month later most were loose and a couple had fallen out. I got the Stage 8s and havent had a problem in over 2 yrs and they were easier to tighten because of the allen head.
I guess I could have just tightened the sh*t out of the cheap header bolts to keep them tight and possibly stripped one or broke on off in the head. I don't exactly have any extra LT1 heads laying around though.
I didn't have to overtighten them with the locking bolts because I know they are not going to back out due to a stainless steel lock on each bolt.
I didn't have my bolts shipped to me either, I went down to my local speed shop and bought them for the same price as they are online.
