slp shorties
I have the SLP shorties on my 95 Z28. I kinda think of them as more like midlength headers(it there is such a thing). The primary tubes are longer than real shorties(what you would get for a dual cat car) and shorter than long tubes.
Anyhoo, mine rock!!! Best mod I've done to the car yet. There is a lot of crap you have to take off for the install because it is in the way or sliding the headers in, however you don't have to jack the motor up. I bought mine used for a very reasonable price.
Every LT1 that I've come across since really didn't stand a chance. Nobody really modifies them around here. But in any case it gave me a way to compare my car to the way it was before.
A word of advice though, if you have a 93-95 single catalytic converter car, I would suggest some SLPs, just for ease of install. IMO they will give almost as much gain as long tubes, for less money and install hassle. If you have a 96-97 dual catalytic converter equipped car, I'd do long tubes. The shorty design to keep the cats will always prevent you from making substantially more power. In this case I think the extra cost and hassle of the long tubes are justified because it gives so much better performance.

I had the slp shorties on my 96 w/ dual converters. I saw 2 tenths and 2 mph improvement on my car. At the time my car had only a few bolt ons. If your looking to keep your car emissions legal, you don't have much of a choice. If you don't care about emissions then long tubes by all means. The slp shorties are a bit of a pain in the *** to install and spark plug access is a pain also. I since dumped them in favor of long tubes w/my cam and head combo.
I got some on my cars. I had to jack up the driver side of the motor to get the header in but no big deal. I think the plug access is good. I can get all from the top. I don't get where people alway complain about plug access. What ever you decide to get make sure they are coated.
