SLP Loudmouth(not typical)

For an LT1 you have to buy an install kit or some b.s.

What exactly does this kit consist of? And couldnt an exhaust shop just make said kit(im assuming here)?

Thanks alot.

Just wondering cause i want to buy a loudmouth off a LS1 car and want to know what i need to mount it up.

It's just a small "S" pipe to make it compatible with our earlier year cars. Also comes with some nuts, bolts, and a flange of course.

It also comes with the correct hangers from the LS1 cars to fit it to an LT1 car . But '96 and '97 LT1's don't need the S pipe, only the hangers.

That's the only thing I don't like about SLP. Every damn product needs an installation kit so you'll end up paying more money. The freakin' header kit is $90!!! I'm surprised they don't make installation kits something simple like CAI.

Not really. If they included the necessary components for every app in one box the price of the setup would be greatly increased for EVERYONE. which would be a pisser if you had a kit that included a bunch of parts you didn't need for your app. This way you can buy only what you need.

The loudmouth is a great example. It was made for the LS1 cars. They then put out a LT1 adapter instal kit. two of them really. Now if you owned an LS1 would you really want to pay for the included LT1 adapters, if it all came together? And if you had a 96-97 would you really want to pay for an extra pipe that you didn't need when you only needed hangers?

I hope I struck a chord with you ...

My advice is, take it to a muffler shop! I didnt need to buy the instalation kit, thefore getting it installed by somebody else for cheaper than myself.

I am kinda banging my head on the wall though abuot my SLP y-pipe, it seems for th money i could have gotten a better mod, i doubt it gave much performance...just figured i would bitch some haha
