SLP Loudmouth
SLP Loudmouth
Hery guys i was wondering...i think my next mod is going to be the SLP Loudmouth Exhaust. I heard for the money it is the best exhaust u can buy(ALSO THE LOUDEST).. i was just wondering what u guys all think of this exhaust, and what can i get power range wise? I would like to eventually hook it up to some SLP Long Tube Headers, but i have emissions, and i dont know if they are emissions legal...Well just give some info if u can, thanks

I praise the LM, I bought it two weeks ago and didn't regret it AT ALL... of course I prefer the car being loud as crap... but that's just me... it was a breeze to install, as would any exhaust, i'd hope.... buy it!!! now!!!
Bang for the buck, as far as cat back after market exhausts go, the Loud Mouth wins hands down. No where else can you get wide open bolt-on exhaust thats stainless for 300-350. Some people dont like the way it sounds at higher rpms and crusing at highway speeds. Personally i do. As was said above, you could have an exhaust shop fab up a similar set up for cheaper.
I called a shop to do the basic dynomouth setup and that told me around 220-240 installed. The only thing about that is it would be bent with a machine that will crush the pipe some, instead of mandrel bends. But I figured it wouldn't matter that much for me for a stock setup if i do it.
SLP doesn't make LT's for LT1's only LS1's that i know of. My friend had a SLP LM. It sounded great on his 97 when it was stock, but then he went with headers and an off road pipe and then it sounded like crap. The LM is a great deal for the price since it is stainless steel. If you plan going with out a cat you will probably want another system or you will have to replace the resonator with a muffler.
I really like the way mine sounds, but if you plan on gutting the cat or adding headers, I'd think twice about getting the LM. I'll be selling my pretty soon to get headers and a different catback.
Just have a good exhaust shop cut your stock muffler off and replace it with a Y shaped pipe out the back with a couple of slash tips. Less than half the price of the LM and you still get the same EXACT sound.
Performance increase will be the same too.
Or...Just get an even cheaper $30 cutout and have it welded to your stock I-pipe. Again, you'll get a very similar sound to the LM and the performance is as good as you'll get. Not to mention you can always cap it up if you need the car to be quiet for some reason or another.

all these people say have an exhaust shop fab up an exhaust with a resonator or bullet muffler, and it will be just like the loudmouth and cheap as hell. Well, good luck finding a shop to do an all stainless 3" system like that cheaper than $300 for a loudmouth (less if you find a group purchase). IMO my loudmouth was an excellent mod, and I will put a LM on any other LT1 car I may ever own. I love it, it isn't raspy or annoying. It just sounds plain amazing. Everyone loves it, it hardly ever pops. I have a catalytic converter too... if you don't keep the cat it probably WILL be raspy and sound bad.

its a great catback for a stock car or what i call a "starter" catback. once you start to add real mods like headers and high flow cats or no cats... then the LM for one probably will probably get you a ticket if you ever take it over 2k in the city and it sounds like a truck.

I have 1.75" headers, and my car does NOT in any way sound like a truck. Nor has anyone said it does

you must have left your cat on. my car with headers and no cat the LM sounded sick. maybe you are all about unrefined noise.. not me.

Yeah I do have my cat, which I'm sure helps a ton. I have not heard the LM on a no-cat car, but I agree with you. I am sure it would sound bad. But IMO my car is not at all unrefined noise.
