slp line lock kit
slp line lock kit
any one know where to find the slp line lock kit. I looked on there website and couldnt find it. Maybe im just stupid, lol. Either that or another kit thats cheaper than the 215 dollars that thunder racing gets for theirs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks prorac 1
www.ls1speed.com has a kit for i think 125.13 shipped to your door, I believe that's what the total was, prebent lines, electrical and all. I have it and it works like a champ
Thanks for the reply guys. how are you hooking it up. from hot, to relay and using the toggle switch for on off. I was thinkin about using my horn button to activate it. Would i go from relay to horn, or use the toggle to power it, and the horn to activate (like a nitrous system) again, thank you for the info. prorac1
I was going to buy the SLP kit which is a pretty good deal but I ended up making my own with the $39.95 Biondo solenoid from Summit (which is what comes in the SLP kit) If you have a flare tool it's pretty easy to flare your own brake lines and install it yourself. Plus I wanted a shifter trigger switch instead of the on/off switch that comes with the SLP kit. I bought a flare tool ($17 at Pep boys) a shifter switch ($19.95 Summit) the solenoid (39.95 Summit) and fittings ($3 at Napa) for a total of $80. Not including the flare tool (if you have one already) you could do it for only $63. The only tricky part was finding the right flare fittings.
whats with the flare? isnt it a standard double flare? did you reuse the fittings from the abs and m/c and buy new ones for the line lock? and did you just use the relay and a pushbutton. And do you think it would be possible to use the horn button with a relay. Thanks Prorac1
The "flare" on the master cylinder and ABS block is a metric "mushroom" shaped flare. It's easy to get the prebent lines (in the TR kit, or avialable seperately), or make your own. Depends on your access to fittings and tools.
How you wire it depends on your preferences. Many kits - the TR for example - include 2 switches. One is a "master arm" that simply turns on the power, so your line lock will work when you push the second, momentary switch. The Hurst, for example comes with the trigger switch to fit over your shift lever. The "master arm" switch prevents you from accidentally engaging the line lock when you aren't racing, for example. Whether you want it depends on your personal preference.
Also think about how you will use the momentary switch. With my manual tranny, putting it on the shift lever was OK. When I switched to the auto with the ratchet shifter, it became awkward to shift into 2nd during the burnout while holding the trigger switch, and I changed over to a toggle switch on the console. I think it would be sort of tricky to hold your hand on the horn to do a burnout, but again... how do you plan to use it and what is your preference?

Yes, it was a standard double flare. I just cut out a section of the line that goes from the master cyliner to the abs block and installed it in the middle. Its the line that hooks up farthest back on the m/c and goes to the front on the abs block. I didn't use a relay, I used a Hurst shifter switch. (There are just two wires on the solenoid) I have heard of people here somehow wiring it up to the horn which sounds cool, not sure how to do that though.
