SLP level 1 suspension

Is the SLP level 1 suspension a good place to start, if I'm looking for a better handling. what to lower the car and need to replace the worn out front struts. Thanx for your help, Rob

The SLP Level I kit is the same thing as the Level II kit that came on the LT1 Firehawk/SSs. It is a very nice setup that rides as good or better than stock, but performs way better than stock. It's a very good setup for a street car that might see light autox or roadcourse use. If you are going to get seriously into autox or roadracing, then you might want to look at something else. Even with being a roadcoure junkie, I'm actually planning on keeping my SLP suspension, but adding Koni SAs in the front and upgrading to a 35mm front bar instead of the 32mm.

I'm thinking about getting the same kit but wasn't sure if the panhard bar and rear lower controls arms were overkill. From what I looked up, there should be no problem of lowering the car with just Eibachs and adding some bilsteins. Not a bad price for what comes in the kit tho...that's why I'm aiming to get the whole kit. I think it even comes with a sway bar! The entire kit helps all the issues of lowering your car that may be experinced when you have aftermarket wheels. Buy a SLP calender and buy the suspension package with the coupon that's associated that item. I think you get 15-30% off or something....

The SLP Level I kit is a nice setup, but the panhard is NOT adjustable so it will not help you with recentering the rear due to lowering. However, since the kit only drops the car .5" you shouldn't have to worry about recentering the rear anyway. The only real benefits to the kit are that you get:
1) the 32mm front sway bar
2) the higher durometer bushings (ala 1LE) in the LCAs and panhard

Personally, I'd skip the kit, get the springs and shocks and then buy a 35mm front bar instead.

I've got it, and I like it. The front dropped about 1/2 to 3/4; the back dropped close 1 1/2 inch actually. As a result the car is level and maybe even 1/4 lower on the rear than the front, but this is barely noticeable and is easily fixed with a bit of shimming if it is a bother. I'm shimming mine up 1/2 inch this weekend with a 1/2 inch thick chunk of conveyor belt.

I was hoping to drop ir about an inch. From what I have been reading in the autox forum, 35mm front sway from st is the way to go. I'm thinking for get the kit from thunder racing: LOWERINGPKG Complete Lowering Kit - Includes Eibach Springs - BMR Adjustable Panhard Rod & BMR Weld-In Lower Control Arm (Anti-Squat) Brackets

Brackets Weld-InBolt-In - Add $40.00 Color RedBlack Year of Car 1998-2002 V8 LS11993-1997 V8 LT11998-2002 3.8L V61993-1997 3.4 or 3.8 V61982-1992 V8 $408.90
Special! $349.99

Alot of the guys are saying they are having wheel hopping probles after lowering the car. so, it sound it is a must to put in the lower control arms brackets.

thanks for all your help,

Rob

Any other thoughts on the SLP Level 1 Suspension kit? There are 2 Supporting Advertisers selling this kit for $650 right now. That seems like a really good deal. Not much more than the shocks and springs if they were bought seperately. With 115k miles on my original shocks and springs, this looks like a good way to refresh my suspension.

Does anyone know of a better deal on a similar or better setup?
Thanks,
