SLP Headers

I just purchased SLP Headers for my 1997 Camaro Z28 couple days ago. My question is, how loud will it be if I take the catalytic convertors out? Does anyone have this set-up on their car right now? If so, how does it sound? I appreciate all the responses I can get, even from those of you who don't have SLP headers. Thanks.

The car will be significantly louder, but not unbearable IMHO.

Assuming you bought the upside down headers for the dual cat cars, I wouldn't bother removing the cats... The exhaust design in the 1996-1997 cars is very poor. Unfortunately, in order to get a CARB #, your headers had to make some serious compromises... I believe one of your pirmaries is about 1/2" long...

if you're going to remove the cats, a set of headers for a single cat car would be much more effective.... although you may have fun getting it inspected...

I had 94-95 headers, but it wasn't that much louder on my car, a bit but certainly not as loud as leaving the catback unhooked, nowhere near.

with headers and no cats the car will be considerably louder than stock. but with nearly any decent catback it will sound great. the only catback i wouldnt run with it is the loudmouth... i personally have 2OTL and its very nice!

When I put on SLP headers and kept the rest of the exhaust as it was, the car actually got quieter...also sounded better

I initially had SLP shorties, w/ B&B TriFlo..... sounded Great , and I added a electric cut-out......enjoyed having that option & exhaust note, and just recently got an extra dual cat Y-pipe to experiment with ( gutted the drivers side cat , and replaced the passenger side cat with a straight pipe) installed that and I perfer that exhaust note best of all. (SLP Headers +Gutted Cats+B&B TriFlo = Mean Sounding Exhaust)
