SLP CAI Users - Rain Guard CutOut Mod

Ok, I've seen alot of custom air scoops and cutouts and I came across my own idea. I'm not sure who has done this already and I know someone has.....

I wish I had a digi cam..anyhow...I will try to explain.

Ok, I was changing my signal bulbs and i got an idea with my Rain Guard.

1) Unbolt & Pull out your Driver side Rain Guard

(Remember to unbolt the driver side portion of bolts on the Radiator airflow scoop) You know..the long thing under your car bolted below your Radiator, this Peice is what is so important!

2) Cutout the air vent slots on the Rain Guard so air can flow into the inner housing where the SLP CAI filter & Inlet Tube are located.

(Make sure not to cut too close to the bolt holes on the Rain Guard. Your gana have to bolt this sucker back on. Now your gana have to match the Rain Guard a few times since this will be your first time cutting it and matching the scoop of the Radiator airflow scoop) Youll see what I mean when you fit it back to see what I'm talking about. The end of the hole has to match the flush fit of the Radiator shroud. Anyhow....

3) Fit the Rain Guard back (without bolting) and see if the opening has a non-Restrictive airflow/inlet with no peices blocking.

(Basically, your using the the Radiator shroud underneath the car to pull air into your SLP CAI)
-------
Generally the Radiator shroud/scoop directs the underbody air into the Radiator fins to cool it.

With the Rain Guard CutOut...the air hits the Radiator Scoop/shroud and directs the air with no Restrictions, into the Inlet of you SLP CAI. There is just enough shroud/scoop on the driverside to direct air into your CAI.

RESULTS I FOUND:

1) I definately noticed a quicker response on throttle (with TB bypass)

2) Louder air suck...sounds kinda cool (for you show-offs)

3) A slight better gas Mileage. I noticed this because I calculate my mileage to gas usage. Camaro factory guages are crap!

Anyhow...it works for me..I'm happy with it!

Let me know what you think.
