SLP 97 style Header Install HELP!

Well me and kieth started the header swap and we got the headers in and all the bolts in tact but they cant be reached with a tool to tighten...They are the star pattern bolts with the SLP installation kits...It took a while just to get these bolts in by hand but it seems impossible to get them to tighten to there exact place....There is nothing we else we can remove to get more room the shape of the headers make it tough. If ne1 has ne background with these headers PLEASE let us know so we can finish my car up this saturday...(It's a 97 Z28)

Re: SLP 97 style Header Install HELP!

were having problems with all of the bolts, we need a special tool or something ... and as for major problems the 2 rear bolts on the drivers side header are an EXTREME PAIN, they are in about half way and they dont seem to wanna BUDGE another turn, Im afraid to tighten more and snap a bolt.... what to do ??? will a tap n die clean the threads up ??

I suggested to Jayson to get some different header bolts, I used the cheap mr gasket ones and the mr gasket gaskets on the 93 slp headers and never had 1 problem with the bolts or the gaskets, and well I did check my header bolts often at first and then once and a while from there after. ...

the slp gaskets look as if they'll blow out quick ... and well the bolts... HA, I dont even wanan go there, lol =0p

I hope the y-pipe (random tech) isnt a pain in the *** to install either...

Re: SLP 97 style Header Install HELP!

Been there done that :P Find the smallest 3/8 12-point wrench, stick it on a header bolt, then use a bigger wrench on the opposite end of the smaller 3/8 wrenth to tighten. The rear bolts can be access from under the car behind the engine. The b!tch is the #2 bolt, but little-by-little it should go in using the 3/8 wrench.
