SLP 1.75" sorties vs. Long tube headers ?

I am currently running SLP 1.75" shortie headers/ Y-pipe and am in the process of installing the Hot cam kit and PCM re-program. My question is, with Hot Cam installed, how much power gain has anyone seem shortie vs. long tube headers? I have hesitated upgrading to long tubes because the cost is relatively high and I am not sure how much hp. gain I will get for the $$$ and installation time vs. the SLP's.
Your input and experiance in this area will be greatly appreciated.

everyone will probably come in and tell you to get LT's. What year SLP's do you have 93-95 or 96+. If you have the single cat (93-95) design i don't really believe they are costing you much if really anything. They are designed very well. The set of SLP's i'm running came off Dr. Mudge's car and it put down 414rwhp with heads, cam and stock shortblock. I think that is a good sign they don't really choke up the car that much. IMO

I was running the 1 3/4 SLP single cat style on my car with homeported heads, HOTcam, a tune and the other bolt ons. I don't think it held me back any.

even the dual-cat headers with an orp wont hold u back. People knock em all the time but the end result is the virtually the same #s as the single cat header, plus if u look the dual cat engines have 10 more hp then the single cat engines even with all the extra emissions crap. so if ur 96-97 style slp headers i wouldnt change em either just get an orp, or even the random tech pipe.

Re: SLP 1.75" sorties vs. Long tube headers ?

well im running a set of JETHOT long tubes on my car no cats... and ive got a set of heads to be ported and polished and an intake to be done as well... ive also got a cam to be instead... so i can let ya know my #S when i get that done.. i know right now im kinda disappointed with my headers, cause i burnt plug wires like crazy, and now i think its fried my opti spark, cause now im misfiring BAD... on #1 and #8... but i put brand new plugs and wires on, and routed them completely different so they arent even CLOSE to touching... so i dunno..but once i fix then, i'll get my head work done and let ya know.
