Slow start sometimes
Slow start sometimes
I don't really know much about starter and ignition systems... so I gotta question. I have 126k miles on the clock, and I just got this TA a few weeks ago so I don't know what's recently been replaced. But anyways, about 1 out of 5 times I start the car, it takes about 3 or 4 seconds to start. The rest of the time it starts right up, but sometimes it sits there and cranks for longer then it should.
What could the possible problem be for this? If something's about to die on me, I'd like to go ahead and replace it now, then to have my car not start on me when I'm needing to go somewhere.
Oh, and while I'm at it, is low oil pressure normal for LT1's? On a cold start the oil stays above 60psi, but after the block warms up it often goes down to 20psi, just a little ways above the red mark when I idle. That normal, or could my oil sender or somethin be dying? Or possibly a leak... actually probably
I'm pretty sure I got the intake manifold leak that I haven't gotten around to fixing yet.

here is what you could look for
as far as the oil pressure , thats about right for an lt1. mine is a little higher than that, but the general rule of thumb is 10 psi for everyu 1000 rpm.
the long start or delay is more than likely a fuel issue. i would say check your fuel pump and fuel filter. then go from there. I would venture to say that your pump may be okay, but the filter is probably shot man.
