I can't really seem to find any "Cold air intakes" (and the ones I do find look different than what I've seen in other cars), all I can find is "Performance Air Intakes", is there much of a difference?

Im about to buy a lingenfelter intake for my car and have heard very good things about them. There considerably cheaper than the other ones and Lingenfelter is a very reputale name.

I've used the Moroso/Callaway kit on two different Z28 and have had excellent results with it, for what that's worth. I understand the Lingenfelters are very good, also. The SLP is a good looking kit. Any of those three are probably goin to be comparable performance wise, and definitely a major improvement over stock.

I can't get the link to work, but I assume its for one of those $40 junk kits on eBay. Or the electric supercharger. Yeah, those and a couple of "got LT1" stickers will net you at least 40 hp and 55 lbs/ft of tq . At the wheels .

I think your 1993 does not have a MAF sensor. If so be sure you buy one that will fit (it needs to be a little longer if it deosn't have a MAF).

One more thing to think about is that some are plastic, and some are metal. I have the SLP, and its metal. It looks good, but its heavier than some of the other kits that are made from plastic. Some people think that the plastic is better since it won't heat up. I'm not sure that makes much of a difference though.

Also, check the parts for sale online here, there is always someone selling a CAI, and you should be able to get one for much cheaper than a new one.

Are they any good? like at all? I understand everyone being all skeptical and I am too but i'd still like to hear a no from someone who's tried it you know...

I say since you have the newer LS1 front end that you just do a lid conversion.

 

I have this one on my 94, I THINK it also comes with extra parts to fit a 93 may want to check http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku notice it says its a summit CAI, but its really a K&N, they used to call it the summit and k an n but now they call it the summit for whatever reason.

 

im building my own ebay style cold air intake, i had a $10 cai from ebay on my civic, got better gas milage with it than with the aem that was on it before then.

i dont really see why the ebay style would perform poorly, theyre the same general shape, and are getting air from the same area. spend the money you saved on a nice filter, and you shouldnt see a difference.

 

There have been mixed feelings on it. There have been people on here that absolutely love them. Others have complained about some fitment issues.

You are correct, no MAFs on the 93 models, only speed density.
