Sliding rear end in turns
I recently bought a 93 six speed with some performance and handling mods.
is it normal for a stock Z28 to slide the rear wheels in a low speed 90 deg turn on dry asphalt?
i was doing about 20 mph when i gave the car a little too much gas and almost lost the rear end. would a stock Z28 do this on a regular basis?
i have near new 275/40 comp ta tires on the car.
TIA

I want to balance the cars handling and straight line charachteristics, and may return the motor to stock specifications.
Is it normal with a stock drivetrain and good 275 tires? It seems like GM didn't make too much suspension improvements in 25 years since it handles about as poorly as my 68 Firebird Convertible handles.
Can't wait till the first light snowfall.
TIA

I've owned every generation F-Body, they DO handle better. Just keep in mind, some things haven't changed. Lots of power, not much weight in the rear, and a foot that's too heavy for the gas pedal.
Trust me, it handles MUCH better than your 68. What kind of suspension mods does it have?

My 95 TA gets squirrely pretty easy going around tight turns, no WS6 suspension on it though, but my '89 handles much tighter, but it does have the WS6 suspension.
But it all comes down to how much weight is on the rear tires, which is not much in my 95 convertible, where as the '89 is more balanced. I have a 2nd gen also, the suspension on it isn't even compariable to that of the newer f-bods, and it has WS6 also, suspension technology has come along way on GM cars.

It really isn't hard to kick the *** out on one of these cars.

maybe i gotta drive the 68 some more, and stay away from my brothers 944 (which has half the suspension my 944 had) to appreciate my Z28.
