Skip shift eliminator

I was just woundering if anyone could clear up for me what a skip shift eliminator is and what is the throttle body bypass is?
I have read about these mods that can be done to my 93 firebird, heard that they help but have no clue as to what they are or how to do them.
My car is automatic and was woundering what else I could possibly do to it to get it to run quicker E.T's. Runs 14 flat right now at 98 m.p.h
There is alot of great info on this site, keep up the good work guys
Thanks in advance

Re: Skip shift eliminator

Skipshift is a feature that is only on M6 cars. It forces the driver to shift from 1st to 4th under light throttle. You dont have to worry about it.

As for the throttle body bypass, it is simply a modification that bypasses coolant from flowing through your throttle body. The idea is to keep the throttle body and thus incoming air a bit cooler. I'm not sure how to do it on a 93 (some cars need kits I believe), being I believe it may be a bit different than my car, but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Have you done anything to your car yet? If not I would reccommend starting with the basic bolt ons, a nice catback and a nice induction system.

I agree with Steve on the basic bolt ons, also I think with '93s the TB bypass is done the same way as '94s.

I've done the TB bypass on my 93 and it is indeed done in the same manner.

Well, if its done the same way as on my '95, this should help you out.

The reason I was hesitant was because on Shoebox's website, it said this method was for '95-'97s. I have no idea how the earlier cars may differ.

Thanks for the info guys. Yes I have done other mods allready, flowmaster catback, msd box and coil, CAI, hytech chip ( i have heard that they are junk) but Im not sure where to get one burnt since I live in Canada, and just installed 160 deg thermostat.
I would like to do more but Im not to sure which way to go right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Skip shift eliminator

I'd suggest you go for some 3.73 gears, a stall converter and a tranny cooler. You will be suprised how much time you drop off your quartermile.

SteveO has some great suggestions...tranny coolers are a must in my opinion on A4s. If you are looking for a replacement for your Hypertech Chip, I would contact Ion (madwolf) at madZ28.com. He has helped a lot of people on the board with PCM re-programs, but can also burn chips for 93s.
