Skip shift?
Skip shift?
Just wondering, I purchased a 95 trans am t-56 and going to be using the old computer and what not, but will the skip shift be functional? If so, that sucker is going out the window, I don't want a manual so a computer can control what gear I go in, hell if I want that I would have bought an automatic, what were they thinking?!

They were thinking that they wanted to sell a manual tranny version of the LT1, without running into a "gas guzzler" tax. Skip Shift allowed them to do that.

You can eliminate skip shift by, (1) buying a skip shift eliminator kit (plug and play for under 30 $, ( 2) wiring a resistor into the circuit. (under 1$ -(you can search this board for the proper OHM and procedure)), (3) use an EDIT program like LT1 edit , to program the function to not engage. I agree that having this enabled is an irritant but it can be disabled without having the idicator stay lite up.
