can you guys post some pics or put a write up in the tech section? you have my complete attention! This is very true building old school motors as well. Only recent high rise dual plane intakes can come close to matching a nice single plane in the mid - high rpm range.
Just - what does an average guy with average money try to get in a single plane to eliminate the LT1/LT4 intake from the top of our 383's with good heads and cams?

I don't have any pics, I would post them for you if I did. But you don't need pics. It's pretty obvious what to do when you have the parts in front of you. But you need some decent mechanical/techical skills to do it. If you are going to DIY, just get the parts and have at it. Some measuring and machining will be needed. Or pay someone to do it.

any where from 300-1200 depending on who does it.

You can get them in the classifieds sections at times too.

There is alot of manifolds with the injector bungs in them out of the box now. You would just have to change the bolt pattern.

I made a thread here recently asking if anyone had done a GMPP dual plane conversion. A guy who saw my thread here copied the pic I posted and made another thread asking the same question on LS1tech. In the process of that thread, I got some info from Aaron at intakeelbows.com about doing a conversion. This post contains his responses:

$225 is cheap, I guess his labor rate is lower per hour. $350 is more like it. Problem is as mdacton says above it takes a lot to get the ports right on a manifold out of the box. I'm working on a CNC version so the work is quick and easy. I've had them ported by numerous head porters, Meaux, GTP etc... and the work that goes into porting intakes is very time consuming, believe me I know first hand.

That is the lowest I have heard. But most are in the 3-400 area. I have only heard of one person charging over 500. Not trying to start a fight just saying.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes you don't. I am not sure what I mean by that, but I posted it anyway.

Sure I understand. I know what I paid for mine and I can't find anything wrong with it. Everywhere it has been everyone is very impressed with the work.

Maybe the higher priced out fit is doing some extra work. The prices I posted were from Injector bungs and rail aatchments and bolt hole relocating. Porting would be extra.

$350 for converting one over to a LT1 and making sure it's straight and bolts up is the key. Obviously putting bungs in some manifolds takes extra time, plus the cost of the bungs.

Hopefully you didn't get mad I was trying to get more info.

I'm still considering a different intake for next year. With a stroker.

Thanks Mdacton. I have seen people use cork sheets before. What thickness do you normally use.
