Single plane intake for LT1...

I know a carbed intake has been put and run on an LT1 but does anyone know where these people have mounted the MAP sensor or all of the other fittings that come stock on our intakes?

I was thinking about this the other day and I was wondering how it can be done.

Anyone know what else has to be modified? Fuel lines etc?

Since the carb is not controlled by the PCM, I wouldn't think you would need any sensors.

I was always wondering the same thing, now why not get the intake and slap on a 650 cfm 4b carb and let it breath and not to mention looks alot better

I assume you're talking about using a throttle body and going multi point.

The MAP sensor will mount on the firewall just fine and most route them there to keep the electronics away from engine vibrations. Then you just need a vacuum source routed from the manifold.

IAC comes with and mounts on the throttle body.

MAT... well depends on your setup but when I considered doing this I was gonna use a carb hat (like the old blow-thru ATI setup) and a stock-like CAI.

Coolant temp would mount in one of the threaded manifold openings.

TPS, on the throttle body.

I know I'm missing something ...... but it's really not that tough to put together sensor-wise.

Mindgame got it right, I was talking about FI with a TB.

So the MAP doesnt need to be directly on the intake? A vacuum hose like you proposed will read the same pressures? Interesting, I never thought about that.

Mindgame, have you look into what would be needed Fuel rail wise?

Yes sir, the MAP sensor only needs a ported vacuum source. I mounted mine to the firewall in my 68' Camaro that was converted to fuel injection..... much the same as we're discussing here (carb intake but converted to throttle body).

Check with the guys at Force EFI. They have everything you'd need to do a conversion.... not to mention, alot of really knowledgable guys for advice.

Good luck.

on the GM carb intakes for LT1's. Has anyone noticed the bigger hole for the distributor? whats up with that and does it need a special (bigger) distributor?
