What makes this Holley single plane operate in the 2000-6000 range while this Vic Jr operates in the 4500-8500 range.
I'm looking to put a lower profile single plane manifold on top of some Brodix heads for my turbo 383. I know the holley is a little taller, but it looks like the top can be milled down an inch or so and I need something that will have good street manners.
I see that the fuel rail kit for the holley is $270 whereas the fuel rails for the edelbrock is $80. But if the holley is more street able, then I might just have to suck up the $190 difference.
Is the operating range for these manifolds mostly for carb applications, kind of like how a throttle body cant be too big for efi?

Also what if a pyramid looking piece of solid aluminum was welded into the bottom of the plenum to reduce the volume? Would this effectively lower the operating range?

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Holley and the fuel rails. It's a nice piece, but after some measuring it looks to be about 1" taller than my edelbrock. If I was using a stock style tb with an elbow I could mill off that 1" and everything would be good, but I'm using a carb 4150 style tb and the linkage gets in the way of the fuel rails, so I don't know what I'm going to do. I have the edelbrock gasket matched to a 1207 felpro and the new heads are going to be gasket matched to a 1206. It's fixable, but I almost want to try the holley just because the plenum is smaller and should be better matched to my needs.
I thought the vic-e had slightly bigger ports than the vic jr-efi?
Its says the vic jr is 3500-8000 rpm and the vic e is 4500-8500, so the vic e has a larger/deeper plenum than the vic jr. But the vic efi, which is based off the vic e is for 4500 to 8500. There is no listing for vic jr efi.
