Single duration or split duration for lt1

I have a camshaft I have been sitting on for a few years. It is a cam motion cam with the following specs 225 duration 558 lift 114 lobe sep. I am about to rebuild my engine and am thinking about dropping it in with some head work of course. My goals are somewhere in the high 300 range with primarily daily use. No track time. My car has all of the supporting hp parts like headers, 4:10 gears, intake, tb etc. Should I use this cam or just ditch it and get something with a split pattern. I was thinking one of the le grinds with his head work. I have never been a bigger is better person but this is one of those areas where I want to do the job once. opinions appreciated.

Just about every LT1 cam offered is of the split duration type. Even the factory cam is that way. You don't have to follow the bandwagon, but I think those numbers indicate something.

I would try it. Selling it off of your shelf "brand new" isn't going to make it worth what you paid anyways. Sounds like a pretty aggressive lobe if that lift is with a 1.5 rocker. Goodluck!

I was always a fan of the 230/244 CC306 Comp or a 236/242 Comp. Goodluck

Crane, LG Motorsports and Lingenfelter all had both single duration and split duration cams back in the early days of the LT1.

I was looking at one of the xfi grinds. But after hearing all the neg reviews I think I will pass. Now I have my eye on one of LLoyd's grinds. I was going to take a chance on his LE2 heads anyway. I might give him a call and discuss the came his website claims is for "most people".
