simple electrical ??...educate me

i'm not very educated in the finer workings of car electrical basics.
what i want to do is hook up an indicator lamp for when my SLP fan switch is activated.

the problem is that i need to know how to hook up the light so that it is lite when the switch is in either HI or LOW speed. i don't think i can just tap into one hot wire from the switch since that would only let it work on one setting (correct?).

soo...could i splice the light into the ground wire for the switch? shouldn't that allow the lamp to turn on no matter what position the switch is in?

thanks...

I think you could do it with one wire...maybe there is a regulator or something that just adds more power for high speed dunno, try it see if it works...nothin a little electrical tape cant fix

yeah, i thought of that, i'd rather keep everything intack in case i ever wanted to sell the switch (easy to remove prior to selling the car).

i have a test light that i can play around with, but i thought i'd ask first.
