sick 10-bolt
sick 10-bolt
Hi,
I just got a busted 10-bolt replaced, problem is the replacement seems busted too. Sometimes it will make awful clunking and whirring noises when making sharp turns at low speeds (like parking). It only seems to do this after long drives, which is why I think the shop said it was ok. The noises are a clunking/binding sound, and a whirring that usually rises in pitch as I turn. Any ideas what's wrong with it? Thanks.

You first need to diagnose what is wrong. My rear made very suspect noises when I switched to synthetic fluid. I had an Auburn posi unit and they don't like synthetic. You could always try a fluid change first because it is easy and cheap compared to anything else with the rear. Use standard gear oil and some of the GM additive.
you can pick up a zexel-torsen differential take off from www.slponline.com for like $99
