Question should re-install a new cat.? EVERYBODY'S OPINION

as some of you may have read i got a dynomax ultra-flo put on my car this morning, and it sound real nice compared to my flowmaster...i have just been putting two and two together reading info. from hear and there, and was thinking about getting a *carsound* cat for my car...i live in se. missouri so there is no emission crap to worry about...im just wondering if it'll help or hurt me over my gutted cat i have on there now.

I ran my car for maybe 2 years with an off road pipe and after i put my motor together i got sick of the noise. I found a low mileage stock LT1 cat and had it welded in. The car felt much stronger and it took away lots of knock retard. It cleaned up the sound to.

so do you think a carsound cat would be a bad idea?...i can always take it back off. and could you please explain to me what spark knock or whatever its called is.could i possibly have that? i just dont want to lose any power that i have, i just want the sound cleaned up a tad bit, and the gas-ie smell to go away.

thanks
steve

knock retard is when your car pulls timing out for some reason. It can be caused by detonation or people have found it can becaused by excessive noise from exhaust or parts rattling or other things. My borla and offroad pipe must of just been to loud i would pull almost 4-5 degrees of timing at idle. After i put my cat on it pulled no timing. Obviously you can't make power with out proper timing.

Cool

Previous posts have said that too much noise in the engine bay can cause some slow down.Do you use a knock module? Those after market lifters can be the noise problem. The computer hears this noise, and adjusts (slows down the stuff),to make the car drivable.(the computer hears spark knock, then adjusts for that.)Anybody else?

Either way, no one builds a race car with CATS Sorry...

You won't see Tanner Bosnali, Jordon Musser running CATS... $hit I don't even think Fred (Injuneer) runs CATS and that guy does EVERYTHING by the book!!
