Should my car be blowing out some smoke at WOT from tailpipes?

I have pretty much all bolt ons, including headers and not cat. My friend was behind me the other day when I "raced"..more like bitchslapped a cougar from a stop. He said he saw a good bit of smoke coming from my tailpipes...I can see some too if I look in the rearview mirror. Its not ALOT, just some smoke. Is this because of my !cat, or does this sound like im running a bit rich?
I have an air/fuel mixture gauge, and it reads like one bar into green(rich) for those of you know what those look like.....so I dont think thats too rich, just a bit past stoich.

Oh ya I guess its been doing this for a while too. And lately I have been able to smell gas when I get into my car and cant really find where its coming from...

Those arent accurate worth crap.

But with out a cat and if you are indeed running rich it would explain the smoke. What color is it?

those a/f guages are not very accurate, i had a autometer one they just dance around and look pretty, an egt (exhaust gas temp) guage is much more acurate

my 02

Ok. Well since Ive had the car, its had the cat removed..and Ive only smelt the gas for the last month and a half or so.

The smoke, I dont think its black...just like regular grey smoke im pretty sure.

The same thing happened to me the other day but it was a lil bit different it was black smoke. i'm pretty sure its from my cut out tho. I guess it has something to do with the build up of carbon in the mufflers or something and it just blows out when you go WOT. But yea i think for ME it is normal i have seen a Vid of someones car on here doing the same thing from them reving it real fast to high rpms.

So it MIGHT be normal..

some times ..... when you oopen it up WOT and your car has a lot of miles... its just a lot of carbon burning from buildup in the motor.

Black smoke is ok. Ive seen many cars do that, espicially lt1's runing rich. Now my car when I first start it up puffs a blue smoke. That is bad. I think I have bad valve seals, because it only does it at start up, or when I rev the motor up in nutrual and it puffs it after I let off.

Now if your puffing a white smoke or blue smoke at WOT racing, that could be a sign of worn rings. If it bothers you, then get a compression test done. If its black smoke, dont worry about it. Just my .02.
