Should I be worried about this?

by that I mean this

This was taken from beneath the car by the starter. First of all, can anyone clue me in on what these wires do/a part of? It looks like a mess to me but Im not having any problems at all with my car...but Im wondering if its something that could cause damage if it fails in the future.

Thanks...

Those are your 02 Sensor wires...looks like your wiring sleve caught on the manifold or something and melted. It maybe a problem if your wires melted and fused together. HAve you been geting any SES lights or anything lately? You might want to pull the sensor out and just resleeve the wires with some new type of sleeving.

No, ive no problems at all - no SES lights or anything . . . I noticed the wires like that about 1000 miles ago when I changed the starter and no problems - car runs great too.

would I be able to use shrinkwrap or something to "resleeve" the wires?

Actually the wires look intact. Did you buy this car used or new? Cause they don't look melted either. At first I was thinking that something bounced under there and shredded it but the other wires around are fine. Looks just like someone unravelled them.

Get some electric tape and make it look good. If you have no problems and no codes then just tape it up.

If it has been sitting a lot a rat or something could have chewed them up.

You probably ought to go through and tape them up just to be safe.
