Should I be worried??

Okay here is the deal. I finished my 1.6 mag rocker install and LT4 spring install. I back it up out of the garage and hear the distinct loud noise of a lifter that is lose. It sounded to be just one lifter on the passanger side. I get out of the car and go up to listen to it for maybe like 20-30 seconds, I get back in the car. I shut the car off. I promtly restart the engine, but the lifter noise is gone? I put a mechanics stethiscope on the valve covers and listened in each area of the lifters on both sides and they all sounded smooth and the same--That light sewing machine sound. I can't find anything wrong.

So what could have caused this? Should I be worried and tear it all back apart even though everything sounds normal?

You probably have nothing to worry about. It wouldn't hurt to check valve lash which valve covers off and engine running though...

Probably just the lifters and rockers getting oiled up on the first start. I wouldn't worry at all. If you really want to be ****.... pull the covers and check the lash.

Agree: probably just a lifter. What I'd really like is to able to pull the valve covers very easily without undoing all the crap, since I believe it is a good idea to check the train every once in awhile.

Get a altenator relocation bracket and you can pull them anytime you want.

Yea I was thinking maybe just a lifter for the reason of how just shutting it off and restarting made it go away. I wish the passanger side cover was easier too, That damn dipstick--I chose to leave out the bolt that holds it to the block, just to hard to get to with my headers.

I'll just wait and see, i'm sure they will be off soon enough.......
