Should I wait to install 1.6's???

Hey guys, when I bought my cam I also picked up a set of SA 1.6 roller rockers. I am not going to be able to get to swapping the cams out till summer time. I was just sittin here a little while ago and thought. Why the heck dont I just put the 1.6's on now and get that little bit extra power before i do the cam swap? I basically just want an opinion. Should I just go spend the hour or two now and do it or should i just wait till summer time when i do the cam swap?

wait for the cam swap. the power may or may not increase, but whatever it does, it's not worth the time right now. just my opinion...

i disagree. It is a good idea to change the springs when you swap rockers. You can push it with stockers. Id change them. I dont see why not if you have a set sitting around

Yea i think I am going to do it. I understand I am going to be pushing the limit but it will only be for about 2 months, the springs only have about 4k miles on them so i think I will be fine, after the race with the GTO last night I think i just need the small extra amount of power

you can get away with it no problem, but i was just saying that with a stock cam little to no hp will be made. you will definitly not feel it in the seat of your pants. i just think it wouldn't be worth the time of the valve adjustment for no "actual" power increase. but if you want to go ahead. if you have a slip from now, and you could get one for after the r.r's, it would be cool to see if they give you anything. keep me posted if you do this...

The only time slip I have is from last year when i didnt have the 3.73's or the tune. So it would be with these 3 mods added. But I can still post up and tell ya what i got, of course the only times i have are 1/8th mile but that would still probably help some people out.

I think it would produce a noticable gain, You are bumping lift from .447/.459" to .477/.490" Thats like doing a mild cam swap. Not to mention valve adjustment wont hurt, although if his valvesprings only have 4k miles on them id imagine everything is still in good adjustment. I disagree with your point of them not making a noticable difference, and not being worth the time.

i see that you disagree with me, but the fact of the matter is that even if you increase the lift of the valves by 4 or 5 onehundreths of an inch with a stock intake and stock heads, you're not really going to see a power increase. and if you were to see any power increase, it would only be at full lift. that would be somewhere around 6200rpm on a stock valve train. and how long are you gonna hit that in a quarter mile? oh well, guess its just me...
