should I replace oil pump on 170,000mi LT1?

I've been helping work on the brother's 95 Formula and we pulled the oil pan off to replace the gasket. We were wondering if we should go ahead and install a new oil pump while the pan is off the engine. The oil pressure always seems a bit low to me. My Z28 holds the guage needle beyond the half way mark while his Formula stays a little below the half way mark while driving the car.
Also, if I need to replace it, is there anything I should be aware of or is it as simple as removing a couple bolts and removing the old one?

I'd replace it while you have the pan off, they only cost around $30 and there easy to install.

I definitely would replace the pump while the pan was off.
