Should i replace my motor mounts?

So I have replaced my Trans mount.. i did that last week. And i drive around to the beautiful smacking of the Y-pipe against the floor that, if not a mind trick, seems to be increasing. So i ask my self... self, should you replace your motor mounts as a method to stop the smacking and also because you have that itch in the back of your head saying their broken? I have a problem with always thinking somethings wrong but i was wondering how do you tell if ones broken? How hard is it to replace? Which ones should i go with? I give the car a good lickin maybe once a day, usually less then that even and my mods are in the sig so Im looking for answers.

thank you very much good day to all

i dunno about you.. but my Y pipe smacks the floor even with new mounts installed lol.. just need to mess with the y pipe conentor to the manifolds... ball flange you should be able to pry it down a little then tighten it to secure it in place.. no more banging.. Mine actually broke a stud off... which is why it is prolly banging bad now...

Re: Should i replace my motor mounts?

I put SOLID motor mounts in and a poly trans mount. I don't have any issues with bangin.

However, the car has a nice shake to it and torques to the side when you rev it, hehe, No give with the solids.

They are difficult to replace. Poly sets are pretty popular, Prothane makes a set that you can get from Summit or Jegs for under 50 bucks.

Re: Should i replace my motor mounts?

The rear trans mount is a easy one to replace, I have broken three in 5 years with my wifes94 LT1 auto TA I have AFS ZR1 replics Corvette wheels,9.5 275 front (chrome SS)11 inch rear with 315 tires had to use SLP joince spacers to get them to clear. I tried the poily and it made the TA too stiff when it shifted for the wife as she drives it to work. They were stronger but she did not like it, I would have kept them. Use a floor jack(with a small block of 2x4) after you remove the bolts that hold the cross member and the bolts in the motor mount and reverse the process. Do the trans bolts last and do not over tighten the bolts to the trans. You may have to push the rear of the trans left or right to align the mount bolts.
