Should I Reinstall Jounce Jumpers?
Should I Reinstall Jounce Jumpers?
When I had my 315 ZR1s put on in the rear, the place that did the fender and wheel well work trashed (without my knowledge) my jounce jumpers because they said they wouldn't fit. I know some people on here say that they just shaved some of material off theirs to make them fit. I was getting ready to order some replacement ones, but a rep at SLP said that I shouldn't because my suspension is lowered. He said that if I put one back in there, that the suspension would have almost zero travel. Any comments on this?
I have the stock jounce bumpers with my 315/35-17s on 17x11 rim and have to jack up the axle and take off the wheels before I can jack up the rest of the car. The J bumpers hit the inside of the rim. Talk about a PITA. I am going to shave them down in the near future.
I have stock ride height and my tires hit the inner wheelwell before the axle hits the J bumpers. I want Hotchkiss 1" lowering springs but the limiting factor is tire rub and being able to get out of driveway -- stock height I occasionally hit my cat on end of driveway.
I would measure how much clearance between axle and J bumper mount then measure a friend's F-bod to see how much room would be left. Maybe some more knowlegable folks can chime in with some good minimum clearance numbers 'cause I don't even know how much clearance I have under there.
Not sure if any of that helps.

I would replace the stock bumpers, and cut the edge of the bracket off so it can't catch on the rims when they drop:
Mod'd Jounce Bumper
Then measure the clearance between the bottom of the rubber bumper and the contact point. Cut a little off the rubber if it looks like insufficient clearance.
