should i get zo6 maf?

ls1speed has a zo6 maf tuned for a LT1... its 150 bux... here is what it says

Bolt on up to 18hp in minutes! Specifically calibrated for your 94-97 LT1 powered F-body. Includes current 2001 ZO6 85mm Maf meter, sleeve, clamp and wiring harness adapter.

should I get it? think its worth 150 compared to G2's 350 price?

Get it only if your stock MAF needs to be replaced since it is cheaper than a stocker. Otherwise, save your money for some real mods. Good luck.

Do yourself a favor and invest the money in something that won't make things worse.
The MAF sensor is one thing people shouldn't mess with at all.

Just my $0.02.

I dont think you should just forget about one completely, take your time and get one for a good deal because they are expensive but have shown to free up usually around 10-15hp

Well, everyone has their own opinion. My opinion is that they're a ripoff and total junk. Dyno proven NUMEROUS times.

most of my friends that have got one showed an 11 hp increase which is a rip off if you pay $350(GMAF)
but you're right I have seen dyno results where they didn't do ****

$100<yes
$100>no

Well, I don't really care about the HP increase. The thing that bothers me is that most of these Z06, ported, GMAF and other similars act very funky. The air to fuel ratio is all over the place and it's very hard to get it right without knowing the actual calibration they have in there.

Is that only the Z06 maf or is that any aftermarket maf?

act very funky?? how?? and y would gm put a "funky" reading MAF on their flagship car?

I've NEVER had any problems with my GM Z06 MAF, but maybe that's the difference, I'm not using a LS1-speed version, I'm using a $85 GM version...

And I DO know the calibration... mine was interpolated directly from a '02 Z06 Vette PCM for the LT1 PCM.

next?

with no experience on LS6 MAF's, madwolf hit this on the head for ported or aftrermarket MAF's. It is very hard to tune a car when they change this. To properly do it, you ahve to go in and play with the checksum and stuff, Which I do not even mess with..lol. I know I might benefit from a larger maf, but I am using just a descreened Stock LT1 unit and have no probs.at the most, I might try some larger ends in the future and see what happens that way.

Madwolf is right. I am a victim of of the z06 maf tuning problem. My stock maf kicked the bucket, I did not want to spend $250 for a new stocker so I got the zo6 maf. I can tell you that the car does run alittle rich (you can smell it) but on a datamaster log it shows fine, within limits of good mixture and rich. If I could go back, I would spend the extra $100 and get the stock maf and keep it screened. The Zo6 MAF from ls1speed is screened btw if your curious. Have a FUN time getting that 85mm monster onto your CAI, I had to goto an fbodies favorite friend (Home Depot) to make it work Take Ion's advice, dont get it, save up for a better stocker, cus when it comes time to tune, and your A/F is all over the place (like me) then you will kick yourself for not spending the cash and getting the stocker.
